The Secure Organization Building Educational Recovery, Inc. (S.O.B.E.R.) is a 501 (C3) non-profit Christian Fellowhip Home for those serious about recovery from the grip of addiction. Located in Galax, Virginia, S.O.B.E.R. House is a transitional living home based on a 12 Step Recovery. Our program focuses on life skills and encourages the development of hobbies, health and fitness, school, employment, volunteer work and spiritual life. Residents are required to participate in alcohol drug recovery meetings every day. Residents also must demonstrate that they are taking steps to long lasting recovery and are required to take random drug tests. Transitional living is one of the very best way to ensure long term change and sobriety.
Our program is based on complete abstinence from alcohol and drugs. It's important that people recovery have every opportunity to be successful. People who work a 12 Step Program and live in a clean and sober environment have a much better chance at achieving long-term sobriety.
Our clients are men and women from surrounding communities, treatment centers, hospitals, social services, Community Service Board's (CSB), and clergy referral. S.O.B.E.R. House has also been used as alternative sentencing for the penal system. We offer a home for men (S.O.B.E.R. House) and a home for women (The Women's Place).
Through spirituality, honesty, education, and 12 Step Programs we believe that recovery is possible. We see addiciton as a disease that not only affects the abuser, but also affects the family. We have faith that lives can be restored and families rebuilt.
Our goal is to provide a secure living environment and offer support to those in recovery, and educate their families and friends as well as the public on the disease of addiciton. We offer an approach centered on healing, teaching, spiritual growth, support and guidance. S.O.B.E.R. House is changing lives.
